As most know, fall in Colorado can be spectacularly colorful and beautiful! "Leaf Peepers" flock to the Colorado foothills and mountains to see the infamous aspen leaves and blazing flora and fauna; roads end up backed up, sometimes with hour-long (plus) waits in a heavy stream of traffic. ...So what should you recommend to your visitors?

Ideas:

Share the leaf peeper "hot spots", like Kenosha Pass and Boreas Pass, but also make guests aware that anywhere aspen trees grow, guests will find colorful Colorado's fall beauty. For example, on Old La Veta Pass (where Inform + Inspire is currently located): 2026 is the 3rd driest year-to-date for precipitation and ranks as the 2nd worst drought year overall due to record-breaking heat (drought.gov), yet we still have all the colors you would expect on a mountain drive.

Tip: Make sure to note distances to locations from your property, and forewarn guests of potential traffic conditions, e.g., traffic jams.

Bring fall indoors:

  • Swap out a photograph (or more) on a wall in a living area for "Fall in Colorado"

  • Exterior decor: Pumpkins (and gourds), a wreath, and seasonal flowers, like mums.

  • Interior decor: Autumn colors (warm earth tones with pops of gold to represent aspen leaves) in your throws and linens, and seasonal flowers.

  • (Rentals) Add fall seasonings to your pantry. Examples: Cinnamon, pumpkin spice, nutmeg, ginger, rosemary, sage, and thyme.

  • Offer tea and/or coffee? Consider pumpkin spice products, but purchase small packages so the items do not turn stale (before their expiration date).

Things NOT to do:

  • Over-scent: Less is more

  • Go overboard

  • Create clutter

  • Create obstacles

  • Create fire hazards

  • Halloween interior decor, no matter how much you love to go "all out": Keep Halloween outdoors, and remove it the day after Halloween. [wink]

Tip: Remove fall decor(ations) and swap for winter decor(ations) on November 30th or December 1st, or as close to those dates as possible if you have guests in your rental.
